Oundle Veterinary Surgery is an RCVS-accredited small-animal practice offering first-opinion preventative care, with a Pet Health Club plan that includes regular check-ups. The website also describes the clinic as “cat friendly,” and states that out-of-hours emergencies are handled by Vets Now. In recent reviews, owners mention thorough pet-plan check-ups with clear explanations, and one review specifically highlights help with a rabbit’s torn claw leading to the rabbit eating again. There is also a serious negative review describing an alleged oversedation during a grass-seed removal, with concerns about lack of updates, missing handover information to out-of-hours care, and no follow-up call.

Regular check ups through the pet plan are always thorough and everything is explained really well. It’s great to have a local practice with knowledge and experience of exotic animals

Sadly after more than 20years with this practice, all confidence was lost when the vet responsible for sedating my Jack Russell over sedated him by 1O% more than he should have been administered. No information despite us ringing throughout the day, the explanation for that was lack of confidence in her language skills on the telephone . No forwarding information to the out of hours vets where we were directed incase our 4 year old Jack Russel woody deteriorated . No follow up call. Woody couldn’t stand when my son collected him from the Oundle vets. At home he collapsed on the floor and we spent a very anxious night with him . When I contacted the vets the next day enquiring as to how this could have happened I was told that this wasn’t a one off , these things happen . Shocking revelation to think that merely removing a grass seed could having resulted in woody being inadvertently put down ! Still charged £240 though despite involving mediation . Accidents do happen and apologies get accepted but in this instance I really feel we were were let down badly and the very least the vet should have done was instead of presenting my son immediately with the bill at least held off to make sure woody made a full recovery . She did seek the advice of the manufacturer of the drug who said that they were confident that his dose wasn’t fatal but nevertheless this should not have happened.

Have been dealing with Oundle & Thrapston vets for more than 20 years when it was just Nick and Karen Park at the beginning. First class Vets can highly recommend.
