Vets Now Peterborough is part of the Vets Now UK-wide network focused on pet emergency and out‑of‑hours care. Based on the website and recent reviews, it’s set up for urgent cases that can’t wait for a regular daytime practice—owners describe same‑day/weekend appointments, immediate treatment, and diagnostics such as blood tests and X‑rays. Practical touches mentioned include a separate, quieter waiting room for cats, and sending consultation details by email as well as explaining them in person. Reviews are split: many describe thorough explanations and compassionate handling in stressful situations, while others raise concerns about very high costs and (in one case) a suspected misdiagnosis.

The actual staff was fantastic. It was a Good experience. The only downside was we was given two tubes and was charged £90 for both tubes when we googled the tubes you can buy them for 1695 online If you don’t have Insurance, this is an enormous markup

I can’t thank the team at Vets Now enough for their incredible care, especially the wonderful nurse who helped my dog twice recently. My dog has fractured ribs, and she was truly like an angel to us — calm, compassionate, and so understanding. She not only managed my dog’s pain with such care, but also took the time to guide me through everything and help me find some clarity about what had happened. It’s never easy seeing your pet in pain, but her kindness and professionalism made such a difference. Thank you so much for all your support — it meant the world to both me and my dog (Lady) 💛

My 12 year old labrador had been very sick and ill for over 48 hours. I had no choice but to visit an emergency vet as it was a Saturday afternoon. I was told that just to be seen would be £302.50. (What they don't tell you is that most insurance companies do not cover exorbitant costs and therefore only £100 of this was covered) I arrived at 5.30pm and eventually seen at 7.30pm. After blood tests she was diagnosed with gastritis and was given an anti sickness jab. The bill came to £590. I was then informed that if wished to make an insurance claim I would have to pay an extra £35 admin fee (This is only £15 at my own vets and not recoverable from insurance). My total bill was £625.43. I will only receive £290 of this amount due to my £100 excess, 20% I must pay due to my dog's age and the amount the insurance won't pay due to excessive charges. The following 24 hours at home were horrendous. She wouldn't eat a thing, could barely walk and was hardly breathing by the evening. I was convinced she was going to die. I didn't call Vets Now as I knew another ridiculous amount of money would be necessary which I simply couldn't afford as I am a pensioner. By a miracle my dog showed signs of recovery the following day. However, she passed a large piece of cloth in her stools. So she had in fact been misdiagnosed as she had a blockage and NOT gastritis. I had mentioned evidence of cloth in her vomit during the consultation. So the £625.43 was paid in effect for a misdiagnosis. I have read the reasons for high costs on the Vets Now website. They do not in my opinion substantiate their charges. I will be reporting this whole debacle to the voluntary Veterinary Client Mediation Service (VCMS). I will add that the staff were extremely kind and polite and we were treated well on a personal level.

Our very poorly cat received prompt and knowledgeable care from Natalya, the vet. We had to use this emergency out-of-hours service on a Sunday evening after our cat took a turn for the worse. We were grateful to get a diagnosis and prognosis, as well as medication to make her more comfortable. We liked that this veterinary practice has a separate and quieter waiting room for cats and their carers.

Our deerhound had boat again in the early hours. Vets Now and the Byre Vet Practice in Peterborough were excellent. They treated Bluebelle quickly and with compassion. The vet explained the risks and the costs and let us stay with her during recovery from GA showing us her x rays which was very helpful to see the large size and gas within her stomach. Home after three hours and Bluebelle now doing an extremely well. Highly recommend.
